The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) (Government of Canada) came into effect on January 1, 2004. It is intended to ensure that businesses and associations protect the personal information they collect. Any information a consumer provides to the Canadian Association of Movers in making an enquiry, obtaining a referral or lodging a complaint may be shared with other appropriate parties interested in the matter. Other parties may include, but are not limited to, a mover, a van line, the Better Business Bureau, Industry Canada, provincial and/or federal government agencies and CAM’s Board of Directors.

The information will be analyzed at both the individual and aggregate level to identify possible trends, similarities between experiences, and inform our strategic plan to offer better services and guidance to our members and partners, and assist enforcement authorities as defined below with their investigations.
It is important to note that we rely on various third-party service providers to operate efficiently. We have executed contractual agreements with the following service providers to only use the information for the purposes of providing us the necessary administrative services. How We Disclose Your Information
We may publish information on our website, social media channels and other promotional material that could identify you by name and your image.
We do not rent or sell any personal information provided to us.
We may share personal and aggregate information with enforcement authorities upon request. These authorities include relevant government agencies, such as the Canada Revenue Agency, Competition Bureau Canada, provincial Consumer Rights Protection agencies, or other authorities with prosecution powers.
However, if we are required to respond to a lawful access request from law enforcement or government agencies responsible for moving company misconduct, we will notify you of such requests prior to the disclosure occurring.
