- Listowel Banner: Fraudulent moving company rips woman off for $500, leaves her stranded in Listowel. This consumer got scammed for $500 by Triple Star Movers Inc. and had to sleep in her pickup truck while keeping an eye on all her belongings at the side of the road. (January 11, 2021)
- CBC Nova Scotia: These customers were promised shipping containers. Now they're out thousands of dollars. The two companies identified in the article are Box Containers LLC and BigMax Containers. (January 4, 2021)

- CBC Hamilton: Hamilton woman is in 'pure shock' after $3,600 moving bill. The Better Business Bureau say they have 'lots of concerns' about Moonstar Van Lines. "I can confirm that Moonstar, Move Me Again, and Greenway Moving are not Canadian Association of Movers members, and never will be, as they are the antithesis of what a Certified Professional Mover should be," says CAM president Nancy Irvine. - WMAR-2 Baltimore - The first of 12 people charged in a nationwide moving scam in July of 2018 has pleaded guilty. The movers were accused of defrauding, extorting, and stealing from around 900 customers. Read more: Man pleads guilty to role in nationwide moving scam. (January 27, 2020)

- Investigators from the Toronto Police Financial Crimes Unit have located a series of storage lockers containing personal goods believed to have been withheld illegally. These goods were discovered as a result of the Project Haul investigation of GREEN MOVING and STORAGE, also operating as CAPITAL MOVING and RYDER Moving. - The CBC Calgary issued this story about a Calgary mover charged with uttering death threats against clients in Ontario (March, 28, 2018). Make It Home Kingston issued a related story - Family pleads for public help locating belongings hidden by mover (March 28, 2018). The Better Business Bureau for Southern Alberta & East Kootenay and CAM immediately issued a joint press release urging consumers to hire trustworthy moving companies .(pdf) (March 29, 2018). The CBC Calgary published more details the next day: Family says Calgary mover refuses to return belongings after being charged with uttering death threats (March, 29, 2018). CAM followed with a press release about its involvement in helping to restore the goods the consumers.(pdf)(April 9, 2018). - The Canadian Association of Movers received a complaint about Torex Moving. Based on the information we received, the invoicing, prior to delivery to the consumer, was substantially higher than the verbal contract. We strongly suggest that if you are planning to use this company, or any moving company, that you first obtain a written estimate that shows the full amount you’ll have to pay and itemizes all charges from pick-up to delivery. The preparation of a written estimate is a standard under the Government of Canada’s Good Practice Guidelines for Canadian Movers. (March 28, 2018).

- The Canadian Association of Movers received several unverified complaints about Access Canada Movers. The nature of the recent complaints is that Access Canada is unable to confirm planned delivery or where the customers’ belongings are. Access Canada Movers is not a CAM member. - CityNews (Toronto) Woman says moving company held her belongings hostage until she paid more. The customer used Movers & Logistics Inc. which she found on Kijiji. CAM recommends that you always check a mover's credentials with the BBB and with CAM. (January 8, 2018)

- CTV News: Moving company owners charged in alleged fraud scheme. The owners of a Toronto moving and storage company are facing charges in an alleged fraud scheme after nearly a dozen customers complained to police (October 25, 2017). The owners of Green Moving and Storage, Landmark Van Lines and Ryder Moving in Scarborough, ON are facing fraud charges. However there's some good news for victims in Belle River near Windsor, ON. - CBC News/Nova Scotia re Nationwide Vanlines (Mississauga, ON) Movers charge Mahone Bay couple 3 times estimated cost (May 15, 2017). FOLLOW-UP FROM THE CISZEK FAMILY (May 30, 2017): "We hired Nationwide VanLines for a big cross country move from Virginia to Nova Scotia and had the worst experience to the point that they told us they will not deliver our things and stopped replying to our calls. In desperation someone referred me to Jim Carney from the Canadian Association of Movers and he was extremely helpful and gave me all the numbers and people I should contact. Without his help We would have been lost. Not sure we would have ever got our belongings back. It ended well but only because of the help from the Canadian Association of Movers."
